The Provocation
What if a food delivery platform listened to how you sounded and recommended a meal based on your emotional state? Food Swings is a speculative service concept that sits deliberately between convenience and discomfort — useful enough to feel plausible, unsettling enough to make you think.
The Questions Behind It
When does personalisation become surveillance? Should technology infer feelings you haven’t chosen to share? How should users challenge an algorithm’s interpretation of their mood?
What I’d develop next
A short interactive prototype testing how users respond to the moment the system explains its emotional interpretation — and what meaningful consent looks like in that exchange.
